Site Assessments
&
Remediation Project Examples
Elementary School System Development
Bridgeport, CT
Client: City of
Bridgeport
Description: Triton
is currently completing large scale assessment
and remediation projects for the City of
Bridgeport. These sites are in the process
of being redeveloped for three (3) new
schools. The properties acquired by the
city include a mixture of industrial,
commercial, and residential sites. Triton
has conducted Phase I, II, and III work
including site investigations, risk based
assessments, remediation design, and oversight
of remediation activities. Triton worked
with the city to develop pre-acquisition plans
to investigate the sites and develop options for
further assessment and remediation in accordance
with the future school design.
The properties investigated have included a
former autobody repair facility, a tool and die
shop, machine shop, warehouses, printing shop,
and several other industrial facilities.
Demolition and remediation was required on most
of these properties. Triton conducted site
wide geophysical surveys to identify potential
buried waste materials, provided soil sampling
to define contaminated areas, and installed
groundwater monitoring wells to evaluate
groundwater quality. Triton worked closely
with the City to develop remedial strategies in
accordance with school design. Triton
managed site remediation, which included
underground storage tank removal, remediating
petroleum contaminated soils, and designing
engineering controls to address urban fill
deposits. Triton also provided community
relations support by attending city meetings to
provide technical expertise and by maintaining
open communications with interested parties.
Role: Detailed site
investigations of each parcel (Phase I, Phase
II, and Phase III), development of remedial
action plans under the Voluntary Remediation
Program, and remediation oversight.
