New Police Station
Development
New Haven, CT
Client: Yale
University
Description: Triton
is providing wide variety of engineering
services to Yale including site investigations,
remediation planning and implementation services
at multiple sites throughout New Haven.
Recently, Triton worked with Yale and the CTDEP
to develop a work plan for evaluating the nature
and extent of contamination at the Former
American Linen Property. The seven parcel
2.2 acre site has been redeveloped into the new
Yale Police Station.
Triton's Phase II and III work at the site
consisted of a soil sampling plan to define
contaminated areas, a ground water monitoring
study, and a geophysical survey to identify
buried objects. The remedial investigation
indicated that previous site activities had
resulted in moderate contamination of soils with
TPH and PAHs. Following completion of the
remedial investigation, Triton developed and
implemented a remedial action plan detailing the
site specific clean up in accordance with CTDEP
RSRs. Approximately 2,700 tons of
petroleum contaminated soils were removed.
Triton prepared the required environmental
condition assessment forms to facilitate the
transfer of the site from American Linen to Yale
and is now implementing a post remediation
groundwater monitoring program.
Role: Environmental
site assessments (Phase I, Phase II, Phase III),
soil and groundwater investigation, remediation
of site to residential standards (mass
excavation and dewatering operations).
